However, we have all been to that event or party where the ring of silence is deafening. This often results when people are overwhelmed by all of the people they don't know. If a spouse arrives at a business party and is left to fend for themselves, this awkwardness can lead to less conversation and/or a request to leave early. Guests leaving early is never the sign of a successful event.
